If you’ve been wondering whether or not affiliate marketing is real, then all of your doubts will be gone when you receive your first check. For me in this case, it was not a check, but a deposit to my PayPal account. My first “paycheck” so to speak came from the affiliate program at Wealthy Affiliate. At WA, what you do is set a threshold for how much money you want to accrue in your account before you get a disbursement. I set mine at $200. I decided that I wanted to get a payment of at least $200 instead of dealing with smaller amounts.
Well, at the time the month of March was drawing to a close, I had around a $400 balance. This meant that I was going to get paid at the end of the month! I made a challenge to myself to see whether or not I could get my balance up to $500 before the end of the month. Well, long story short, I made it up to $490 by March 31st. Technically I had fallen $10 short of my goal, but I certainly wasn’t complaining about anything! The interesting thing is that my payment didn’t get processed until April 1st, so there was actually a bit more time. By the time my payment was processed, my balance was up to $518. I had a couple of additional sales come through, so it bumped up my balance. So, it just depends on how you look at it whether I made my $500 goal or not. Either way, I think I’ll settle with “close enough”.
When my money was deposited to my PayPal account, the amount was $308. There was still a $200+ balance in my WA affiliate account. Why do you ask? Well, to be honest with you, I’m not exactly sure, and I haven’t really tried to find out. The reason I haven’t tried to find out is because I think I already know the answer. Most likely, there is a delayed time waiting for some of those sales transactions to “clear” to make sure they aren’t going to get charged back or something like that. Sure, I’d like to get the total amount of my balance as it is shown when I login to my Wealthy Affiliate account, but I know that there’s a system that has to be followed with all things financial. I can live with it. As long as my business continues to grow (and it is) then I will be happy.
